Project Terra is a Warhammer 40000 personal fan art project exploring the environments, mood and ambiance of the grimdark universe of the 41st millennium.

I became part of this world when the 3rd edition Warhammer 40000 rulebook fell onto my lap when I was age 11. I was enthralled with the illustrations of John Blanche, Richard Wright, Alex Boyd and others and it sucked me into this universe rabbit-hole. Now more than 20 years later I feel finally ready to take on this project, exploring how the environments and scenes depicted in the lore by authors such as Dan Abnett, Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Chris Wraight or Graham McNeill.

During these next weeks and months, expect more fan-art depicting key places and moments of the Imperium of Mankind and beyond.

For this particular piece, the main inspirations were the depictions of the Hall of Heroes and Eternity Gate by John Blanche in the Warhammer 40000 2nd edition rulebook, the illustration made by Richard Wright of the peregrine's causeway leading to the Imperial Palace for the 8th edition book and the diorama constructed by Mikal van Leeuwen.
