Driven by the mistaken belief that General Reyes was still alive and among their number, the Baanthurians resisted striking the site from orbit, instead hoping to capture the last defenders. They were killed to a soldier after 30 hours of ferocious resistance, bringing the Battle of Melaka to a close after 6 months. "
